Instead of producing a report, podcasting ”˜professor’ Sallie Goetsch co-hosted FIR 339 with Dan York. (Shel and Neville were not able to do the show themselves.) Although there were a couple of mentions of podcasting, Second Life, and the New Communications Forum, the star of the show was Twitter, which appeared in One-Minute News, in David Phillips’ report, and in Neville’s pre-recorded contribution to the show, as well as providing the music.

”˜Professor’ Goetsch’s conclusion: it is better to listen to Shel and Neville than to be them.

”˜Professor’ Goetsch just couldn’t resist commenting on the horrified reaction of the French blogosphere to the fact that French president Nicolas Sarkozy has started monitoring blogs. And then, since she was at the microphone anyway, she decided to weigh in on recent claims by Michael Geoghegan and Paul Colligan that podcasting is not an industry. It’s certainly worth considering that if advertising no longer works as a business model for print, it might not be the best bet for social media.
