‘Professor’ Goetsch Co-Hosts FIR 339

Instead of producing a report, podcasting ”˜professor’ Sallie Goetsch co-hosted FIR 339 with Dan York. (Shel and Neville were not able to do the show themselves.) Although there were a couple of mentions of podcasting, Second Life, and the New Communications Forum, the star of the show was Twitter, which appeared in One-Minute News, in David Phillips’ report, and in Neville’s pre-recorded contribution to the show, as well as providing the music.

”˜Professor’ Goetsch’s conclusion: it is better to listen to Shel and Neville than to be them.

Should Your Clients Be Podcasting?

On Monday, 21 April, 2008, Professor Goetsch and Adjunct Professors Priscilla Rice and Michele Molitor went to pitch their podcasting package to a group of WSI (that stands for We Simplify the Internet) franchisees. This 39-minute discussion focuses on ways that small, medium, and even multinational businesses in many different industries are using podcasting.

Lee Hopkins’ Report 04-14-08

”˜Professor’ Hopkins reports this week on his ongoing research into the utility of Second Life for small businesses, focusing on some yet-unrealized possibilities. What if you could import all your ”˜2D’ web properties and profiles into Second Life, so that you could engage in all your social networking activities from within your virtual environment, updating FriendFeed, Twitter, Plaxo, Facebook and displaying those updates on the virtual walls of your Second Life home?

If you have always wanted a footnote in an academic paper, here is your opportunity! ”˜Professor’ Hopkins wants to hear about your ”˜ah-ha!’ moments with Web 2.0. Lie back on the couch and tell the good doctor about what it was like when you ”˜got it’ about a new social media tool. Stories about your clients and colleagues are also welcome. Send them all to SL@leehopkins.net.

And remember, there’s still time to subscribe to the Better Social Media Communication Results print newsletter.

Included in FIR 336.

We’re Part of the Blubrry Network

Actually, ”˜Professor’ Goetsch became a member of the Blubrry podcast community in 2006, but the Reports from the Asylum podcast has only been there since March 31, 2008.

Because most of the Reports are included in another podcast (For Immediate Release is also part of the Blubrry community), this show is unlikely to participate in any of the advertising opportunities. (Besides, who could possibly do as good a job promoting GoToMeeting as Anna Farmery does?)

However, part of the agreement podcasters have with Blubrry is mentioning their affiliation, so we wanted to be sure to give them a plug here on the show blog, and will make a point of mentioning Blubrry in the presentations and other special editions of Reports from the Asylum which don’t appear in FIR.
